The Centre for Tribal Studies and Research (CTSR) is a student-led academic cell established at National Law Institute University, Bhopal with the objective of fostering informed discussion and research on issues relating to tribal communities. The Centre seeks to develop a legal and policy-oriented understanding of tribal rights, cultural practices, and traditional knowledge, with a focus on contemporary challenges faced by tribal populations.

CTSR engages primarily in research, writing, and academic dialogue on tribal laws and related issues, including constitutional protections, forest rights, customary practices, and the implementation of welfare schemes for Scheduled Tribes. The Centre functions as a platform for students and researchers to critically examine existing legal frameworks and policy measures affecting tribal communities.

As part of its academic initiatives, CTSR publishes The Tribal Insight, a student-run magazine, and maintains a blog to encourage writing, research, and discussion on tribal issues. The Centre also organises limited academic activities such as talks, discussions, and workshops, subject to institutional support and academic feasibility.
